    Liz Forbes
    , DVM
    2017-2018 VLAC Intern

    Dr. Liz Forbes grew up in Nashua, New Hampshire and has been riding horses in New

    England since she was ten; from dressage training to rescue horse rehabilitation and
    everything in between. She earned her bachelor's degree from the University of
    Connecticut in Animal Science in 2013 and received her DVM from Oklahoma State
    University College of Veterinary Health Sciences in 2017. Her professional interests include
    equine sports medicine, preventative care, and internal medicine. After completing her internship with VLAC, Dr. Liz moved to Henniker, NH to work as an associate veterinarian with Henniker Veterinary Hospital.

    Kara Wilson

    2017-2018 VLAC Intern

    Dr. Kara Wilson is originally from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and grew up riding dressage, hunter/jumper and three-day eventing with her horse Kolumb (pictured). She earned her bachelor’s degree in biology from Dalhousie University in 2014 and earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the Atlantic Veterinary College at the University of Prince Edward Island in 2017. Kara enjoys many aspects of veterinary medicine but has a special interest in diagnostic radiology, anesthesiology and equine sports medicine. After completing her internship with VLAC, Dr. Kara returned to Nova Scotia to work as an associate veterinarian with Southshore Veterinary Services.

    Meghan Morrell

    2016-2017 VLAC Intern

    Dr. Meghan Morrell is originally from Long Island, NY, where she was actively involved in a therapeutic riding program for many years. She went on to ride on her college's IHSA team, focusing on hunter/jumpers. Meghan received her bachelor's degree in Pre-Veterinary Science with a minor in classical flute performance from the University of Deleware. She received her DVM from Tufts Cumming University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2016, where she worked as a technician and on the local harness racing track. Her professional interests include sports medicine, neurology, and neonatology. After completing her internship with VLAC, Dr. Meghan moved to Plainfield, NH to work as an associate veterinarian with Riverbend Veterinary Clinic.

    Amber Goodwin

    2016-2017 VLAC Intern

    Dr. Amber Goodwin grew up riding horses on the north shore of Massachusetts. She competed in the hunters and equitation up to and through high school and received a scholarship to ride in college for Texas A&M University's Division 1 Equestrian Team. She earned her bachelor's degree from Texas A&M in Animal Science in 2011, while also receiving 3 national championships with the equestrian team during her time in Texas. Amber was accepted to Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2012, and after a year at Ross University she transferred to Tuft's University Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine where she received her DVM in 2016. After completing her internship at VLAC, Dr. Amber joined the VLAC team as a full time associate. Amber's interests include equine sports medicine, theriogenology, and alternative medicine.

    Emily Comstock

    2015-2016 VLAC Intern

    Emily Comstock grew up as an active member of her local equine 4-H club in Barre, Vermont. She completed her BS in Natural Science from Lyndon State College in 2010, and then attended the Atlantic Veterinary College at the University of Prince Edward Island, where she received her DVM in 2015. Emily's main interests in equine medicine include lameness, theriogenology, and neonatology. After completing her internship with VLAC, Dr. Emily started an ambulatory service in central VT, Maple Hill Veterinary Service.

    Tarah Satalino

    2015-2016 VLAC Intern

    Tarah Satalino grew up in Virginia and attended Ithica College, graduating with her Bachelor's of Arts in 2010. She then furthered her studies at Jefferson College of Health Sciences, and graduated in 2011 in Biomedical Sciences. Tarah received her DVM from Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 2015. After completing her internship with VLAC, Tarah moved back home to Virginia and started her own ambulatory practice, Blackwater Equine Veterinary Services.

    Elaine Claffey (Flory)

    2015-2015 VLAC Intern

    Elaine Claffey grew up on her family’s dairy farm in southwestern Virginia and attended the University of Virginia, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology in 2007. She spent two years working at an equine sports medicine practice and riding professionally before attending veterinary school at Virginia Tech. She was an active competitor in the sport of eventing throughout vet school with her off-the-track Thoroughbred, Leo. These days she enjoys hiking, cooking, and spending time with her dog Pepper and husband, Dan. After completing her VLAC internship, Elaine went on to a residency in Large Animal Surgery at Cornell University, College of Veterinary Medicine.

    Sophie Mainguy-Seers

    2015-2015 VLAC Intern

    Sophie Mainguy-Seers grew up in Quebec where she enjoyed hunter/jumper pleasure riding with her off-track Thoroughbred. After completing her college degree in Health Sciences at Maisonneuve College in Montreal, she attended the University of Montreal where she received her DVM in 2014. While at the veterinary medicine facility, Sophie was an active member of the animal welfare student committee and was implicated in the Equine Hospital of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital as a working student. Her main interests are internal medicine, ophthalmology and neurology. After completing her VLAC internship, Sophie went on to a residency in Large Animal Internal Medicine at the University of Montreal in Canada.

    Jennifer Puttress

    2013-2014 VLAC Intern

    Dr. Puttress was born and raised in northern New Jersey. She studied animal science at the University of Deleware before graduating from Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2012. Following vet school, Dr. Puttress first completed a one year internship at a referral clinic in New Jersey, where she worked primarily with Thoroughbred and Standardbred racehorses. After completing her VLAC internship in 2014, Dr. Puttress went on to work for Mid-Hudson Veterinary Practice, a full-service equine ambulatory practice in Carmel, New York. She then moved to the Finger Lakes region in New York to work at Eastview Veterinary Clinic.

    Dr. Taylor was born and raised in California. She graduated from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine in 2012. After completing her VLAC internship in 2014, Dr. Taylor spent one year in equine general practice in West Virginia, and has now joined Professional Equine Therapeutic Services, a full service equine ambulatory practice in Monroe, Washington.

    Elsa Ludwig

    2012-2013 VLAC Intern

    Elsa Ludwig graduated from the University of Wisconsin, School of Veterinary Medicine in 2012. During her internship year at VLAC Dr. Ludwig became certified in veterinary acupuncture through the Chi Institute. After completing her VLAC internship, Elsa went on to a residency in Large Animal Surgery at Virginia-Maryland, College of Veterinary Medicine in Blacksburg, Virginia. Dr. Elsa now works at VLAC-EH as a surgeon and ambulatory veterinarian.

    2011-2012 VLAC Intern

    After completing her internship at VLAC in 2012, Dr. Clapp went on to open her own full-service equine ambulatory practice in Chester, Vermont called Upper Valley Equine Services (UVES). Kristen is from Long Island, NY where she was brought up riding and showing hunter/jumpers. Kristen graduated from Atlantic Veterinary College on Prince Edward Island in 2011. She completed a one-year equine internship at Vermont Large Animal Clinic-Equine Hospital. After the completion of her internship she moved to Southern Vermont where she briefly worked in a hospital providing both small animal and equine medicine. She was then given the opportunity to work for Cross Border Equine Center in Springfield, VT for 2 years where she could work solely with large animals, predominately horses. Kristen is very excited to now be offering her services through Upper Valley Equine Services.

    After completing her VLAC internship in 2012, Dr. Corinne McKittric, formerly Dr. Wade, moved back to Wisconsin, where she continues to work as an ambulatory associate at Lodi Veterinary Care, a full-service equine ambulatory practice in Lodi, Wisconsin. In her off hours, Dr. Corinne enjoys spending time with her favorite quarter horse named Super and playing competitive Ultimate Frisbee. She married her husband, Tristan, in late June 2013.

    Dr. Betsy Colarusso is a native of Goshen NY and attended Cornell University Veterinary School. After completing her internship at VLAC, Betsy joined Pine Bush Equine in Pine Bush, New York. Her interests include geriatric medicine, reproduction and all aspects of ambulatory medicine. In her spare time she enjoys running, hiking and skiing.

    Toby Pinn

    2008-2009 VLAC Intern

    Dr. Pinn graduated from the University of Wisconsin, School of Veterinary Medicine in 2008. Dr. Pinn then completed an internship in medicine and surgery at VLAC in 2009, followed by a residency in large animal internal medicine at Cornell University. In addition to equine internal medicine, Dr. Pinn’s special interests include equine and camelid neonatology, medical colic management, and the diagnosis and treatment of neurologic, liver and kidney disease. Dr. Pinn now works at Cornell University Diagnostic Laboratory.

    2008-2009 VLAC Intern

    After completing her VLAC internship in 2009, Allison went on to work in mixed practice for several and has been an associate with Banfield Pet Hospital of Secaucus since 2011. Allison is a New Jersey native and earned her veterinary degree from Cornell University in 2008. In her free time Allison enjoys hiking with her two dogs, Italian greyhound Iris and keeshond Neela, cross country skiing and traveling.

    Allison Miller

    2007-2008 VLAC Intern

    Dr. Allison Miller is an instructor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at Cornell University, College of Veterinary Medicine. She received her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Cornell University in 2007 and following six years in equine practice returned to Cornell as an instructor.

    Her primary interests are in developing clinical teaching models in the basic anatomy curriculum focusing primarily on equine anatomy. She is also actively involved in the Cornell Summer College programs offered through the veterinary school.

    Jenny Wilkinson graduated from Cornell Veterinary School in 2006, then completed a one-year internship at VLAC. She now teaches Equine Science at the University of Vermont where she is a senior lecturer in the Department of Animal and Veterinary Sciences.

    After completing her VLAC internship in 2006, Dr. O'Donovan went on to establish her own full service equine ambulatory practice in Bridport, Vermont called Meadowbrook Equine.
